This region’s proximity to the Indian Ocean provides some ideal growing conditions for grapes. The rich Mediterranean climate benefits from the cooling maritime breezes and ancient, fertile soils. This gives the region a unique location to produce some of the greatest Chardonnays and Cabernets crafted.

Vasse Felix

This is Margaret River’s founding wine estate. This winery, established by regional pioneer Dr. Thomas Brendan Cullity, began with the notion of creating the best possible wine.

Today, everyone is invited to tour the winery and partake in the amazing food created by chef Brendan Pratt. Chef Pratt and his team create amazing dishes based on the wines available. To get started, enjoy charcuterie and pair it with the Classic Dry White. This is a popular blend of Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc that is sure to delight. The Classic Dry White is a pure fruit style wine that has been made by Vasse Felix since 1987. This zesty and crisp wine will pair well with cheeses and fruits.

Next move on to the mouth-watering entrées featuring Stracciatella or the Kingfish. Both entrées pair well with the Heytesbury Chardonnay or the Sauvignon Blanc Semillon. .

Enjoy a main course with selections such as Fazzoletti, or the Beef with davidson plum. Pair these main courses with a Filius Cabernet Merlot, or go for the flagship Cabernet Sauvignon… Tom Cullity. Round off the visit with the Cane Cut Semillon. A delightfully sweet wine. An outstanding end to an outstanding meal!

Cullen Wines

Cullen Wines offers a very unique take on enjoying wine and local cuisine. This incredible winery uses the land to speak through their wines. Their grapes are grown in the ancient soils of Wilyabrup. The idea of all Cullen wines is to bring out the heart of the land through their wines. This process leans less on the mind of the winemaker and more on the fertile grounds of the land.  Certified Grade A Organic and Biodynamic in their operations, the wine is made in the purest form possible. The land is cared for meticulously and the wine is created without additions.

This is the only biodynamic and carbon positive winery in the region and is home to the 2020 Viticulturist of the year…Vanya Cullen.

Enjoy lunch at the winery and marvel at the offerings created from organic and biodynamic produce in the Cullen Restaurant.

Indulge in snacks such as organic wood fired bread and Cullen Extra Virgin olive oil along with a 2019 Legacy Series Sauvignon Blanc.

Enjoy the fish of the day prepared by Chef Charlie Chen and his team. Add to this artichoke, white bean puree, spring onion and pair this tantalising meal with a 2018 Kevin John Chardonnay. Celebrate with a Margaret River Wagyu beef with a 2020 Diana Madeline. This incredible cabernet sauvignon is sure to please!

You will have a pristine experience with the organically grown wines and amazing culinary offerings.

Leeuwin Estate

Leeuwin Estate, one of the five founding wineries of the region, boasts about the art of fine wine. They deliver on this by staging spectacular events, and with its Art Series wines. These wines sport fine works of art right on the wine label. The art collection now comprises over 150 paintings and art works. Many of the full works of art are on display in the Leeuwin Estate Art Gallery. The winery itself celebrates fine wine, food, as well as art and music.

Take, for instance, the 2019 Art Series Chardonnay. This bright and energetic wine is laced with mineral acidity, bursting with lemon, lime and pear skin. This pairs exceedingly well with geraldton kingfish, chicken tare, and kombu. You can also choose from mouth watering options like Geographe Bay Octopus or Oak Valley Truffle.

Consider a main course like pork collar, pemberton marron, mandarin, carrot, black bean, and shiso paired with the 2018 Art Series Shiraz. This offering gives off a matrix of blueberries and red currants through a background of dark chocolate, cracked coffee bean and tobacco.

The 2018 Art Series Shiraz also pairs with the Wagin duck, plum, pickled walnut, and beetroot. The dimension and texture of the wine creates an explosive combination your tastebuds will love.
